I’m Gert and ever since I joined a computer club in the 5th grade (and made my first game) I have been fascinated by technology and the possibilities it provides to make everyday life better.
Like most who get into programming I started to create web sites for different clients throughout my high-school years and continued that trend in the university as well.
My first real job (not counting the usual, weird summer jobs and part time ventures) after graduation was a software test engineer at a Finnish company, based in Estonia. After awhile I got an opportunity to move to Finland and start working at Nokia, where I spent almost a year doing RnD. Everything was great and super interesting, but my love for making games kicked in again.
I took a job at Playtech, the world’s largest online gaming and sports betting software supplier, first as a developer and worked my way up to be a program manager in the end. It was a great experience to see how a world leading, big company, does its software, but those were not really the games I wanted to do – so I started my own little game studio called Frozen Kingdom and to this day we make design, apps, gamification and games. Besides running the studio I have tied myself with different start-ups and projects over the years: leading the development of Estonian HIV positive persons database and tools (for Quretec), creating different IoT and hardware solutions, leading the development of a next generation study system for the University of Tartu and many more.
